Anwar’s elder brother Idrus Ibrahim dies

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the death of his elder brother, Idrus Ibrahim, while returning from a visit to China.

Anwar expressed his deep sorrow at the loss and regrets not being present during his brother's final moments.

He requested prayers for Idrus, asking for mercy and remembrance of his brother's kindness and memories.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today shared the sad news of the death of his elder brother, Idrus Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said he received the heartbreaking news while returning to Malaysia from a three-day working visit to China.

“It is difficult for me to express this sense of loss when someone who shared so many memories throughout my life is now gone. Only Allah SWT knows how heavy my heart is in accepting this reality.

“I regret not being able to be by his side in his final moments, but I accept this with resignation even as my heart is still trying to come to terms with a separation we were never prepared to face,” he said.

The prime minister also prayed for the deceased to be forgiven for his shortcomings, showered with mercy and placed among Allah’s faithful servants who do good deeds.

He also asked the public and friends to offer prayers and recite Al-Fatihah for the deceased.

“Thank you for all the memories and kindness he left behind, all of which will remain etched in our memories and hearts,” he said.

“我很难用言语表达失去挚爱的悲痛之情，一个与我分享了无数美好回忆的人如今却离开了我们。只有真主安拉才知道，我接受这个现实时内心有多么沉重。”

“我很遗憾没能陪伴他走完人生的最后时刻，但我接受了这个事实，尽管我的内心仍在努力接受我们从未准备好面对的分离，”他说。

总理还祈祷真主宽恕死者的过错，赐予他慈悲，并将他列入真主忠实行善的仆人之列。

他还请求公众和朋友们为逝者祈祷并诵读《古兰经》开端章。

他说：“感谢他留下的所有回忆和善意，所有这些都将永远铭刻在我们的记忆和心中。”
