As of 4pm today, eight locations in Malaysia reported unhealthy air quality, with the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) readings observed in five areas in Johor including Segamat and Batu Pahat.

Nilai and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan, as well as Samarahan in Sarawak, also recorded unhealthy levels.

Additionally, 57 locations recorded moderate air quality, and three areas registered good air quality.

An API range of 101 to 200 is categorized as unhealthy.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — A total of eight locations recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the unhealthy category as of 4pm today.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, five areas in Johor were affected, involving Segamat (156), Batu Pahat (155), Kluang (152), Tangkak (151) and Larkin (111).

In Negeri Sembilan, the affected areas were Nilai (151) and Seremban (146), while Samarahan, Sarawak, recorded a reading of 117.

Meanwhile, 57 areas were in the moderate category, while three areas recorded good readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and an API exceeding 300 hazardous. — Bernama
