An elderly man lost his life, and a female pillion rider sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle skidded near Lorong Kampung Boyan 1, Taiping.

The 76-year-old man was declared dead at the scene by medical officers, while the 69-year-old woman received initial treatment before being taken to a hospital.

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department responded promptly to the incident, which occurred around 12:41 pm, with the operation concluding at 1:49 pm.

IPOH, Oct 4 — An elderly man was killed and a woman who was the pillion rider was seriously injured after the motorcycle they were riding skidded at Lorong Kampung Boyan 1, Kampung Boyan near Taiping, today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the 76-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officers.

He said they received a call about the incident at 12.41 pm before a fire engine from the Taiping Fire and Rescue Station arrived six minutes later.

“Upon arriving at the scene, personnel found that the Yamaha Ego motorcycle ridden by the two victims had skidded and nearly fallen into a drain in front of a house. The elderly man was unconscious while the 69-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries,” he said in a statement today.

Sabarodzi said firefighters lifted the male victim, who was nearly falling into the drain, before MOH medical officers confirmed his death.

“The injured victim was given initial treatment before being sent to the hospital, while the male victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation ended at 1.49 pm,” he said. — Bernama
