Kuala Muda police have remanded 14 individuals, aged 16 to 24, in connection with the murder investigation of Muhammad Haikal Mohd Shahrilnizam, an 18-year-old whose body was discovered by the roadside in Gurun.

The remands, approved by Magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa, will last five to six days, with the case being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The victim, found in sports attire with head and face injuries, was initially unidentified, but his identity was later established.

Police have yet to disclose the motive or details regarding the involvement of those detained.

Bernama reported Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan as saying that 12 of the suspects were remanded for six days, while two minors were remanded for five days.

The remand orders were issued by Magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa at the Sungai Petani Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The victim, identified by Sinar Harian as Muhammad Haikal Mohd Shahrilnizam, was found at about 8am near Jalan Harvard in Gurun.

He was wearing black-and-yellow sports attire and had injuries to his head and face.

Bernama reported that the victim initially had no identification documents on him before authorities established his identity.

Police have not disclosed further details on the suspected motive or the alleged involvement of those remanded.
