For one Jurong West resident, however, the day began with a sighting of two Yorkshire Terriers cruising down a pavement in a toy car.
He filmed the unusual sight and shared the clip on TikTok last Sunday (Sept 6), describing it as the "cutest Sunday morning".
In the clip, the two dogs were seen sitting side by side as the toy car travelled slowly along the pavement.
The miniature Jeep was hard to miss, as it was decked out with a couple of Singapore flags and an umbrella.
Dennis, who filmed the clip, told local media that he spotted the dogs outside Jurong Point at about 8.30am that day.
His first thought was that children were riding the toy car, but a closer look revealed two Yorkshire Terriers enjoying the ride.
"I was waiting for my delivery order after finishing my full-time night shift when I looked across the road and saw the red toy Jeep," said the security officer who is also a part-time delivery rider.
The dogs' owner was walking closely behind as the pets travelled at a slow pace, stopping whenever they came across pedestrians.
"I found the scene rather amusing because you don't usually get to see such a cute sight. It really made my day," Dennis, 42, said.
The video has been viewed more than 123,000 times as of Tuesday afternoon.
The TikTok clip also caught the attention of netizens, drawing mixed reactions.
Some found the sight amusing, with one calling the dogs a "suspicious driver" with "no licence, no helmet, and four legs on the steering wheel" in jest.
Another chimed in, saying that the dogs were “just Paw Patrol out on duty”.
Others, however, expressed concern over the dogs' safety.
A netizen commented that they would not put their "furkids" in such danger, while another said they did not find the clip funny.
