Queue of 2 hours or longer at Woodlands Checkpoint due to 'very heavy departure traffic': ICA

Motorists who are planning to travel across the Causeway can expect queue of two hours or longer, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in a social media post on Tuesday (Sept 8) evening.

The authority also stated that there is very heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint, with the queue reaching Exit 10A along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).

Checks on the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) traffic cameras at 7pm show that traffic along the Causeway is smooth.

Meanwhile, traffic along Woodlands Flyover and Woodlands Crossing is bumper-to-bumper.

Heavy traffic expected during Sept school holidays

On Aug 31, ICA had said that heavy traffic is expected at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the September school holidays from Sept 4 to Sept 15.

In its advisory then, the authority highlighted that security checks have been stepped up at all checkpoints since Feb 28 — when US and Israel struck Iran — due to the heightened global security environment.

"Travellers should therefore expect longer waiting time during peak travel periods," it said.

预计九月学校假期期间交通拥堵

8月31日，移民与关卡局表示，9月4日至9月15日学校假期期间，兀兰关卡和图阿斯关卡预计都会出现交通拥堵。

该机构当时在其公告中强调，由于全球安全环境加剧，自 2 月 28 日美国和以色列袭击伊朗以来，所有检查站的安全检查都已加强。

“因此，旅客在出行高峰期应做好等待时间延长的准备。”声明中写道。
