Anwar raises Gaza crisis, West Asia tensions with world leaders at Brics summit

During the 18th Brics Leaders' Summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim engaged in discussions on global geopolitical issues with numerous world leaders, including those from Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Conversations highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and tensions in West Asia, emphasizing the need for global unity to achieve a just resolution.

Additionally, Anwar met with the UN Secretary-General and the WTO Director-General during this diplomatic engagement.

Following the summit, Anwar will visit Keralam, India, before proceeding to the Maldives.

NEW DELHI, Sept 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took the opportunity on the sidelines of a dinner held in conjunction with the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit to discuss various issues, including global geopolitical developments, with several world leaders.

Among the leaders he met were Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov.

Anwar also met United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres and World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

“Our discussions touched on global geopolitical developments, particularly the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as well as tensions in West Asia,” he said in a post on his social media account.

He said the situation called for unity among the people and world leaders to stop the bloodshed and work towards a just and lasting solution.

Anwar arrived here on Friday to attend the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit, which concludes today.

The Prime Minister will continue his working visit to Keralam (officially renamed from Kerala), a state on the Malabar Coast of southern India.

This is Anwar’s second official visit to India, following his inaugural trip as Prime Minister in August 2024.

他表示，当前局势需要各国人民和世界领导人团结一致，制止流血冲突，努力寻求公正持久的解决方案。

安华于周五抵达这里参加第十八届金砖国家领导人峰会，峰会于今天闭幕。

总理将继续对喀拉拉邦（原名喀拉拉邦）进行工作访问，该邦位于印度南部马拉巴尔海岸。

这是安瓦尔第二次正式访问印度，此前他于2024年8月首次以总理身份访问印度。
