His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has granted royal assent to seven legislative acts from the recent parliamentary session, including amendments related to employment insurance, sexual offences against children, and road transport.

These Acts came into force following their passage in the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament.

At the commencement of the Third Meeting of the session, Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor announced the approval and noted that the Budget 2027, among other parliamentary matters, would be a focal point of discussion.

Additionally, condolences were offered to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the passing of his wife.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has given royal assent to seven Acts passed during the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, held from June 22 to July 16.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor said the Acts were the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Act 2026 and the Sexual Offences Against Children (Amendment) Act 2026.

The other Acts are the National Trust Fund Act 2026, Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2026, Witness Protection (Amendment) Act 2026, Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Act 2026 and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Amendment) Act 2026.

Ramli announced the royal assent at the start of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, which will sit for 37 days from today until Dec 8.

He said Budget 2027 would be among the key matters debated and deliberated during the meeting, with its second reading brought forward to 3.30pm this Friday.

“This week, the Dewan Rakyat is also expected to focus on briefings on reports by select committee chairmen, debate on the Auditor-General’s Report 2/2026 and bills,” he said.

Three briefings by select committee chairmen on their respective committee reports were also presented today.

Ramli, on behalf of Parliament, also extended condolences to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family over the death of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, on Sept 28. — Bernama
