Holistic approach to learning

The AUSMAT programme offers a flexible curriculum with a balanced 50% school-based assessment and 50% external examination structure, making it well-suited to students who prefer a mix of continuous assessment and exams.

The structure also provides a natural progression from IGCSE while developing skills such as time management, consistency and independent learning.

In April 2026, more than 55% of AUSMAT students attained an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 80 and above, placing them in the top 20% globally. The programme has also earned 142 World Awards to date, recognising outstanding academic performance.

Sunway College AUSMAT Student Council president Tang Kenn Zoe progressed to the AUSMAT Programme after completing his IGCSEs at Sri Kuala Lumpur International School in Subang Jaya.

Reflecting on how the programme has shaped his learning experience, he shares: “The shift from high school to college was certainly a learning curve, but the lecturers at Sunway College made the transition seamless.

“AUSMAT gave me the perfect opportunity to develop strong time management and consistency, not only in my studies but in every aspect of life, from academics to sports.

“Its fast-paced environment teaches us lessons that go beyond the pages of a textbook, but also lessons that we subconsciously carry with us as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

Another AUSMAT student, Chooi Yi Sheng, discovered his interest in the connection between accounting and sustainability through the Accounting and Finance subject.

“The lecturers in AUSMAT are dedicated, and this is reflected in their willingness to support students through both in-person consultations and online communication. They are always there to ensure that we have a clear understanding of every topic.”

Beyond the classroom, Yi Sheng also made the most of the opportunities available at Sunway College. “Being at Sunway College gave me the opportunity to volunteer at various events, where I interacted with visitors and strengthened my communication skills along the way.

“These experiences have helped me build confidence and develop skills that will be valuable in my future career and beyond,” he shares.
